Physician Assistant -Surgical Services

HealthAlliance Hospital - Kingston, NY Schedule: 3 Shifts/Week (an average of 1 week of night shifts per month) Physician Assistant - Surgical Services Summary The Department of Surgery and Surgical Services, in collaboration with the Center for Advanced Practice, is seeking a Physician Assistant (PA) to join our expanding and innovative team. In this position, the APP will work alongside experienced physician and PA colleagues managing a variety of surgical patients, inclusive, but not limited to, Trauma, Vascular, Orthopedics, Urology, Colorectal, and Acute Care Surgery, throughout the course of their hospital stay. Respond to trauma activations in the Emergency Department and perform lifesaving procedures Be part of a supportive culture where PAs are integral to the team, not an afterthought Qualifications Candidates must be board certified as a Physician Assistant and possess, or be able to obtain, a New York State PA License. Ideal candidates will have a minimum of 1-year experience, although highly motivated new graduates with interest and abilities in surgery will be considered and are encouraged to apply. Must possess excellent communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must have BLS, ACLS, and ATLS. Responsibilities Performing medical evaluations, treatment, follow-up and consultations for diverse trauma and acute care surgical patients. PAs and NPs with an RNFA are able to 1st Assist in the Operating Room on open and minimally invasive procedures Delivering direct patient care as part of a collaborative patient care team. Gaining a working competency of procedures inclusive of, but not limited to, central line placement/removal, insertion/removal of chest tubes, and arterial lines.
