About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide stepdown-level nursing care across Cardiac and/or Medical PCU units with patient ratios of 1:3-4
• Manage and titrate cardiac drips, insulin drips, and vasopressors including Esmolol, Cardene, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Milrinone, Labetalol, Levophed, Nipride, and Nitro
• Care for a diverse patient population including post-CABG, lobectomy/VATS, PCI, TAVR, AICD placement, respiratory failure, CVA, DKA, Sepsis, ETOH/CIWA, and AMS patients
• Perform and manage chest tubes, tracheostomies, central lines, drains/tubes, wound care, and venous sheath management
• Pass a required EKG competency exam prior to arrival as part of compliance
• Document accurately using Meditech Expanse EMR; administer medications via Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis dispensing system

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Minimum 2 years of PCU/Stepdown RN experience; first-time travelers must have 2 years of permanent staff acute care RN experience
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Must successfully pass an EKG competency exam prior to start
• Travelers who were previously permanent staff at this facility must have been separated for at least 1 year to be eligible

• LVAD certification (applicable to Cardiac Stepdown unit)
• Experience with Cardiac Stepdown patient population including post-CABG, TAVR, and AICD management
• Proficiency in managing temporary pacemakers, TR Bands, and venous sheath removal
• Familiarity with Meditech Expanse EMR
