Description:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is responsible for meeting residents' activities of daily living (ADLs) as outlined in the plan of care.
Care must be delivered in accordance with established policies and procedures to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
Tasks include assisting with hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting, turning/positioning, and skin care.
Documentation must be completed per protocol.
Maintenance of the residents' environment and safety is essential.
This includes promptly answering call lights and alarms, providing safety mats and low beds, and following restraint use guidelines under the direction of nursing staff.
Maintaining cleanliness of the unit, practicing behavior and fall prevention, and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment is required.
Resident nutritional needs should be met as per the plan of care, including meal delivery, tray preparation, and assisting with feeding.
Residents' preferences and choices must be honored, and appropriate documentation should be completed.
The CNA is also responsible for meeting rehabilitative and restorative needs as outlined in the plan of care.
This includes range of motion exercises, ambulation, transfers, ensuring proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
Reporting resident rights, refusals, and concerns to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely manner is crucial.
Any changes in a resident's physical, emotional, or psychosocial status should be identified and reported promptly.
This position involves potential exposure to blood borne pathogens, which includes tasks that may require contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
