SB Administrative Services provides management services for the practices of Stony Brook Community Medical, PC. Our network of community-based physicians work closely with the physicians at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital, Affiliated community hospitals and with other medical professionals to enhance the coordination of the medical care for every patient in the communities we serve. Job Summary Responsible for evaluating, treating and caring for patients with breathing or other cardiopulmonary disorders under the direction of a physician. Job Responsibilities Evaluates and treats all types of patients. Interviews patients and performs limited physical examinations. Conducts diagnostic tests including checking breathing capacity and determining the concentration of oxygen and other gases in patient' blood. Measures patient pH. Treats patients using oxygen or oxygen mixtures, chest physiotherapy and aerosol medications. Performs chest physiotherapy on patients to remove mucus from their lungs. Administers aerosols, teaches patients how to inhale the aerosol properly to ensure its effectiveness. Teaches patients and their families to use ventilators and other life-support systems at home. Complies with safety, infection control, and quality improvements policies and practices. Documents patient care for medical records. Position Requirements Associates degree or bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy or cardiopulmonary technology from an accredited school required. Minimum one year of respiratory therapy experience in acute care setting required. Minimum 6 months experience in diagnostic testing required. Minimum 6 months of medical practice experience preferred. NYS Respiratory Therapist license.
