Senior Systems Operations Engineer

About this role:Wells Fargo is seeking a Senior Systems Operations Engineer to lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams on Mainframe /iSeries applications/NDM’s/CA7 and Autosys.The Mainframe Operations team monitors all Mainframe Operating systems, network connections, daily mainframe batch processing providing 24/7/365 on-site support. Responsible for batch processing and CICS availability SLA’s. Mainframe Operations has enterprise accountability for every Mainframe Application - including but not limited to - Hogan, ICS, ACH, Trust, and Mortgage.In this role, you will:Constantly monitor Mainframe MVS operation system LPARs activity via console messages, logs and network management system and report system abnormalities and issues are resolved or escalated properly and/or out of balances to management immediatelyDevelops and reviews Knowledge Management documentation for accuracy, may participate in training peers on all operational functions with the direction of supervisionWork as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional areaReview and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systemsMake decisions on technical changes and enhancementsConsult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiativesCollaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals.Required Qualifications:4+ years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationHands-on experience with Mainframe /iSeries applications/NDM’s/CA7 and AutosysExperience in JCL (Job Control Language), HMC & System IPL’s, TSO, MVS, JES & Automation tools (Ansible, Jenkins & AAI), Scheduling tools such as CA7, IBM Mainframe, Ticketing system such as ServiceNow, Computer operations, Hardware infrastructure, IT systems management, and Operations/Automation experiencesExperience in SRE concepts (SLAs, SLOs, error budgets)Strong automation using Scripting & Automated Testing Python / Shell scripting / PowerShell/AnsibleAbility to communicate problems in a clear, concise, and technical manner, to follow through on detail, analyze and solve operating problems and be sufficiently flexible and resourceful to perform in sometimes stressful situations.Desired Qualifications:4+ years' experience of Mainframe technology TSO/JCL/DB2/COBAL/CICS technology delivery and relationship management experience with small and large business units in a large corporate environment4+ years' experience of complex issue resolution experience/ Sense of urgency to handle the issue reported and drive it until closure.2+ years of experience with a data center operating environment, day-to-day operational requirements, and the operation of production systems and equipmentExperience in Systems Engineering and operations and SRE/ Adherence to Timely login and logout being part of the Command CenterFocus and lead the process improvements in the scope of command center, monitoring and technical teamsWillingness to learn regularly in the dynamic changing environmentAdhere to the defined KPI’s (SLA/SLO) and performance goals to ensure the performance is at par to meet the individual / team metricsTimely notifications to teams, leadership / executives with quality updates of the incidents adhering to the SLAs.Job Expectations:Ability to be available at desk throughout the scheduled shift hours and ensure follow break management coordinating with leads globallyAdhere to HR policies, shift availability, team meeting and daily cadenceThis role is not eligible for Visa sponsorshipThis role is not eligible for relocation assistance.Posting End Date: 11 Aug 2026*Job posting may come down early due to volume of applicants.We Value Equal OpportunityWells Fargo is an equal opportunity employer.
