BayCare is currently in search of our newest Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant Pool/PRN who is passionate about providing outstanding customer service to our community. Since 1953, South Florida Baptist Hospital has been a trusted and loved hospital for all our community's health and wellness needs. Our compassionate and caring team of experts, including nearly 800 team members and 250 physicians, work diligently to make sure that you receive high-quality care when you visit the hospital. Our new 204-bed replacement hospital that opened in the Spring of 2024 offers many more services than a standard community hospital, as we're part of the BayCare family of health care facilities.

Acute Care Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) Responsibilities:

• Acute care COTA is responsible for assisting in the delivery of occupational therapy services to patients within the acute care hospital.
• Assist in evaluating patients' needs and progress under the supervision of an OT.
• Provide therapeutic interventions to help patients improve motor skills, cognitive abilities, and activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Carry out treatment plans as designed by the Occupational Therapist, modifying techniques based on patient responses.
• Educate patients and their families about therapeutic exercises, techniques, and adaptive equipment to support recovery.
• Teach patients how to safely perform tasks and manage physical challenges they may face during daily activities.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of patient progress, responses to treatments, and any changes in condition.
• Document daily therapy sessions, goals, and any relevant notes in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.
• Work as part of an interdisciplinary team including OTs, nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to plan and deliver comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in case conferences and team meetings to discuss patient progress and modify treatment plans as needed.
• May provide direct clinical supervision for Rehabilitation Technicians.

Requirements:

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• OTA (Occupational Therapy Assistant)
• Required Associate's Occupational Therapy
• Preferred Bachelor's Occupational Therapy
• Preferred 1 year Occupational Therapy

Shift Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m./Days
