• Pay Rate: $58.00 / Hour (USD)
• Shift / Schedule: Night shift (3×12 Hours), 18:45–7:15; 36 or 48 hours accepted

Job Summary

This is a Neuro Unit Medical Surgical nursing position at a healthcare facility in Wilmington, NC. The unit focuses on general medicine with an emphasis on neurological patient diagnoses. Contract staff will be assigned and expected to work a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team, and may be required to report to work during a catastrophic event, mass casualty, or disaster. Consolidation to the Centralized Office mid-contract may occur, and contract staff may be pre-assigned to units as needed.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Neuro Unit with a focus on general medicine and neurological diagnoses
• Maintain a teamwork approach to patient care with a focus on patient safety
• Work within a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6
• Float as required; travelers float first
• Fulfill weekend shift requirements: 5–6 weekend shifts (equates to every other weekend)
• Utilize unit systems including Pyxis (medication), EPIC (documentation), and SBAR (communication)
• Work under a manager-scheduled format
• Complete 24-hour unit orientation upon start
• Report to work during Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team activations, including catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Adapt to potential mid-contract consolidation and pre-assignment to units as needed

• Proficiency with or ability to learn Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR systems

Preferred Skills

• NIH stroke scale experience
• Neuro experience preferred
• Experience in or willingness to learn the charge nurse role preferred

Education Requirements

• ACLS certification required
• BLS certification required
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start (required for this specialty)
• Flu vaccination required (medical/religious exemptions only)

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Local candidates accepted

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

• Night shift (18:45–7:15), 3×12-hour shifts; 36 or 48 hours accepted per week
• Weekend requirement: 5–6 weekend shifts (equates to every other weekend)
• Float requirement: travelers float first
• Scheduling type: Manager schedules
• Contract staff may be required to work Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team assignments during catastrophic events, mass casualty incidents, or disasters
• Scrubs: Not provided; Navy Blue required

Important Notes

• RTO (Return to Origin) after booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite. Any call-offs or additional RTO on unit could possibly result in contract cancellation and DNR (Do Not Rehire).
• RTO maximum: 7 days (for AYA Auto Offer)
• Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty
• Unit orientation: 24 hours
• COVID-19 vaccination: Not required
• Flu vaccination: Required — medical/religious exemptions only
