What you'll be doing:

• Plan and direct the various phases of an engagement including staff requirements, locations to be visited, job planning, and scheduling with the manager or principal. Plan the logistics of the engagement, including the work to be performed by other departments.
• Develop audit programs, working papers, and internal audit reports for presentation with Audit Committee
• Oversee audit, review, and/or compilation work programs and answer staff questions
• Study and evaluate the internal controls used by the client and prepare or review the work program and time budget (for subsequent approval by a principal)
• Evaluate working papers and determine that the engagement was performed in accordance with generally accepted auditing standards (or accounting principles)
• Review financial statements, notes, schedules, and management letters for later discussion between the manager or principal and the client
• Evaluate audit risk and communicate potential risks to manager or principal
• Review, document, and evaluate internal controls
• Determine possible contingent liabilities by corresponding with attorneys, examining minutes, and contacting clients
• Serve as the main point of contact for multiple clients
• Supports the partner team in identifying and promoting the development of new delivery capabilities and/or channels to satisfy evolving market requirements.
• Development of industry expertise and profiling of the firm
• Participate in the development of staff by training and offering constructive feedback through working paper reviews; assist with performance review feedback if possible
• Work with Firm leadership to develop best practices, metrics, and standards to improve efficiency and client service
• Conduct billing practices in accordance with Firm standards in order to ensure timely and accurate payments

What we require:

• Minimum of five years experience in public accounting (or equivalent)
• CPA license in good standing
• Active Virginia Driver's License
