ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW

Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is dedicated to ending homelessness by providing permanent housing and comprehensive supportive services that help formerly homeless individuals and families build stable, thriving lives. Since 1999, APC has transformed the former Alameda Naval Air Station into the largest supportive housing community in Alameda County, serving more than 500 residents through housing, workforce development, employment training, and a range of supportive programs.

This position supports operations at two APC locations.


The main campus, located at the former Alameda Naval Air Station and the second location, the McKay Project (Arnold's Place), is the Alameda Wellness Campus in the City of Alameda, offering integrated care for individuals experiencing homelessness with complex medical and behavioral health needs. The campus includes 104 supportive housing units for seniors, a 50-bed medical respite program, an on-site medical and behavioral health clinic, and services such as housing navigation, homelessness prevention, and end-of-life care.

Together, these locations provide a continuum of housing, healthcare, and supportive services that promote stability, recovery, and long-term wellness.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Medical Facilities Maintenance Technician performs construction, repair, and maintenance work on buildings and related facilities, with a primary focus on medical and residential care environments. The position is responsible for ensuring the safety, functionality, and upkeep of common areas and program spaces, responding to maintenance needs and emergency situations, and performing related duties as assigned.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

• Perform maintenance and repair services primarily for medical and residential care facilities.
• Construct, install, alter, repair, and maintain interior and exterior building structures and systems
• Perform demolition work, including removal of walls, ceilings, floors, windows, and appliances
• Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on facility systems and equipment
• Monitor and coordinate work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with state and federal building codes and safety standards.
• Assist other staff as needed to support efficient facility operations
• Transport tools, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites to ensure availability of required materials.
• Respond to after-hours emergency situations, including but not limited to fire, flood, and biohazard-related incidents.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFATIONS

• Minimum of two (2) years of experience facilities maintenance experience, preferably in medical, healthcare, or residential care settings
• Demonstrated ability to perform basic plumbing, electrical work, and appliance troubleshooting.
• Working knowledge of hand tools and power equipment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an efficient and safe manner
• Valid California Driver's License.
• Driving record that meets APC insurance requirements
• Proof of personal vehicle insurance may be required.
• Ability to communicate clearly in English, both verbally and in writing; basic recordkeeping required
• Ability to pass an initial skills or operational assessment as a condition of employment.
• Physical ability to perform maintenance and repair tasks, including climbing stairs and ladders, bending, lifting, and using cleaning equipment; must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with a diverse population, including APC staff, residents, contractors, and community partners
• Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Willingness and ability to learn new tasks, systems, and procedures
