Medical Assistant - Internal Medicine

Overview

We are seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Medical Assistant to support our Internal Medicine team in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care. In this role, you will work closely with physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff to help ensure an efficient and positive experience for every patient. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and committed to maintaining professionalism, accuracy, and confidentiality in a fast-paced medical environment.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and prepare them for examinations, procedures, and follow-up visits.
• Record patient information, vital signs, medical history, and other relevant clinical details accurately.
• Assist providers with routine examinations and in-office procedures as directed.
• Prepare examination rooms and ensure supplies and equipment are clean, stocked, and ready for use.
• Support patient intake, documentation, and chart preparation in accordance with established workflows.
• Coordinate referrals, lab work, diagnostic testing, and follow-up communication as needed.
• Perform basic administrative duties such as scheduling, phone support, and message routing.
• Maintain compliance with privacy, safety, and infection-control standards.
• Provide courteous and effective communication to patients, families, and clinical team members.
• Assist with additional clinical and administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
• Current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant may be preferred or required depending on location.
• Previous experience in internal medicine, primary care, or a similar outpatient setting is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and electronic health records.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
• Commitment to professionalism, patient confidentiality, and team-based care.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with EHR systems and clinical documentation.
• Familiarity with medication reconciliation, immunizations, and point-of-care testing.
• Knowledge of insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorization processes.
• Ability to support a diverse patient population with empathy and respect.
