Job Title: Senior Business Analyst - Payments Experience: 10+ Years Location: Hybrid- Johnston RI As part of the Reimagine the Bank transformation program, we are seeking a Senior Business Systems Analyst to support the modernization of the bank's Commercial Banking Payments platform, with a primary focus on ACH and Fedwire payment capabilities. The Reimagine the Bank program is a strategic, multi-year enterprise initiative focused on transforming how the bank delivers Commercial Banking products and services by modernizing payment operations, improving client servicing, simplifying operational processes, and enabling scalable digital capabilities across the organization. The successful candidate will partner with Business, Product, Operations, Architecture, and Engineering teams to analyze payment workflows, define future-state business capabilities, and deliver scalable payment solutions supporting ACH and Fedwire processing. This role requires a highly collaborative Business Systems Analyst with strong consulting, analytical, and facilitation skills who can independently lead discovery sessions, challenge legacy processes, and translate complex business needs into delivery-ready Agile requirements. This position is ideal for someone who understands Commercial Banking payment operations end-to-end and enjoys driving business transformation through process optimization, technology modernization, and operational excellence. Primary Responsibilities Partner with Business, Product, Operations, Architecture, and Technology teams to define business capabilities and operational requirements supporting Commercial Banking payment transformation initiatives. Lead business discovery workshops and process assessment sessions focused on ACH and Fedwire payment operations to understand current-state processes and define future-state solutions. Gather, analyze, and refine business requirements related to: ACH Payments Fedwire Payments Commercial Payment Operations Payment Investigations Payment Exceptions & Returns Payment Lifecycle Management Detailed user stories Acceptance criteria Operational step-by-step workflows End-to-end business process flows Business rules Data mapping specifications API integration requirements Document complete operational workflows, process dependencies, exception scenarios, and business rules to support solution design and engineering delivery. Partner with Product Owners and Solution Architects to refine the product backlog and ensure user stories are prioritized and ready for Agile delivery. Collaborate with Engineering teams to define API integrations, payment processing enhancements, and system interaction models supporting ACH and Fedwire capabilities. Drive discussions around payment operations, settlement, reconciliation, exception handling, and operational process improvements. Identify opportunities for workflow automation, operational efficiency, and business process optimization as part of the bank's payment modernization strategy. Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, story walkthroughs, sprint reviews, and business demonstrations. Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), business validation, implementation planning, production readiness, and post-production support. Work closely with Quality Assurance, Engineering, and Operations teams to validate business functionality and ensure successful end-to-end solution delivery. Manage dependencies across multiple workstreams while collaborating with Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Architects, and Engineering teams to deliver successful transformation outcomes. Required Skills & Experience 8–12+ years of experience as a Business Systems Analyst within Commercial Banking or Financial Services . Strong functional expertise supporting Commercial Banking payment products, including: ACH Payments Fedwire Payments Commercial Payment Operations Payment Investigations Payment Exceptions & Returns Strong understanding of: ACH processing NACHA Operating Rules Payment investigations and exception management Experience supporting enterprise payment modernization or Commercial Banking transformation initiatives. Proven experience leading business discovery sessions, operational workshops, and stakeholder requirement discussions. Acceptance criteria Operational workflows Business process flows Business rules Data mappings API functional requirements Experience working closely with Product Owners, Operations, Engineering, Architecture, and Quality Assurance teams in Agile environments. Hands-on experience using Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence. Excellent analytical, facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Preferred Skills Experience supporting enterprise Commercial Banking payment modernization initiatives. Knowledge of ISO 20022 payment messaging standards. Experience working with: REST APIs Service-oriented architecture Microservices-based applications Familiarity with Commercial Banking payment platforms such as: FIS Bottomline ACI Worldwide Exposure to cloud-native architectures (AWS or Azure) and API-first application design. Experience using process modeling tools such as Visio, Signavio, Blueworks Live, or equivalent.
