School Nurse

MSD of Shakamak is seeking a reliable and qualified Substitute School Nurse to provide as-need coverage in the absence of the district's School Nurse. The position supports the day-to-day health needs of students and staff while maintaining a safe and responsive school environment. The role is intended for short-term coverage and does not serve as the district's designated School Nurse or health services coordinator. Minimum Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license through the Indiana State Board of Nursing Current CPR/AED certification Ability to respond to student health needs in a school setting Preferred Qualifications Experience in school nursing, pediatrics, emergency care, or community health Familiarity with student health plans (IEPs/504s) and medication administration Strong communication and organizational skills Essential Responsibilities Provide basic nursing care to students and staff as needed Administer medications in accordance with physicians orders and district procedures Respond to student illness, injury, and health concerns Follow established health plans and emergency protocols Maintain accurate and confidential health records for the day Communicate with building administration regarding any significant health concerns Important Role Distinction This position provides temporary coverage only and does not fulfill the role of the district's licensed School Nurse. The Substitute Nurse is not responsible for coordinating or overseeing the district's health services progtam.
