Vice President Of Human ResourcesThe Vice President of Human Resources provides strategic and operational leadership across the organization's people function. This role shapes HR policies, programs, and practices while ensuring compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. The position has broad responsibility across employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits, compensation, payroll, performance management, and professional development. It also plays a key role in strengthening organizational culture, communication, and cross-functional collaboration. Working closely with executive leadership, the VP of HR connects talent strategies with long-term organizational goals and business priorities. The ideal candidate is an experienced HR leader who can operate independently, navigate complex employee matters, and drive meaningful improvements in the employee experience.Accountabilities:Lead the development, implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of HR policies, procedures, programs, and best practices.Partner with the Chief Operations Officer on compensation initiatives, including job description development, role evaluation, and compensation analysis.Oversee the performance management and evaluation program, making recommendations and updates as needed.Maintain the employee handbook and ensure HR policies remain aligned with organizational needs and applicable employment requirements.Manage the HRIS, including system administration, manager training, employee adoption, and vendor relationships.Lead and support the Cultural and Communication Committee, including annual planning, initiatives, and budget monitoring.Identify opportunities to strengthen employee engagement, training, organizational culture, and relationships across departments.Oversee benefits administration, including third-party vendor management, enrollment processes, program evaluation, cost-effectiveness, and benefit offerings.Serve as the primary point of contact with the benefits broker, managing relationships, negotiations, and ongoing program administration.Support payroll processing by collecting and entering data, performing calculations, and resolving discrepancies.Manage the full recruitment lifecycle for exempt and nonexempt employees, interns, and temporary workers, including job advertising, candidate screening, interviews, reference checks, offers, onboarding, and orientation.Develop and maintain employee learning, training, and professional development programs.Provide managers with guidance on employee relations matters, including counseling, disciplinary actions, and terminations in accordance with established policies.Resolve complex and sensitive employee conflicts, including situations requiring judgment where no prior precedent exists.Work with external legal counsel when necessary on employee relations, HR policies, and employment matters.Manage HR and cultural program budgets while maintaining accurate employee records, reports, and departmental documentation.Develop and distribute regular HR communications, including a monthly HR newsletter, and coordinate updates for staff meetings and organization-wide events.Collaborate with executive leadership to support the organization's long-term mission and goals through effective talent management strategies.Ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws by monitoring legislative developments, advising leadership, and implementing required changes.Maintain current HR knowledge through professional development, conferences, and educational opportunities.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; a Master's degree is preferred, though equivalent professional experience may be considered.PHR or SPHR certification.8–10 years of progressive human resources experience, including significant leadership responsibility.Demonstrated experience supporting and effectively operating within a remote or distributed work environment.Strong knowledge of HR practices, employee relations, talent management, benefits, compensation, payroll, performance management, and employment law compliance.Proven ability to handle sensitive and complex employee matters with sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism.Strong communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.Ability to negotiate contracts and manage relationships with external vendors, brokers, and professional partners.Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.Ability to work independently and resourcefully with minimal direct supervision.Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn and effectively use HRIS, proprietary systems, and other workplace technologies.Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, accountability, and quality.Demonstrated ethical judgment, adaptability, teamwork, customer focus, and strong HR expertise.Ability to maintain strict confidentiality when handling employee and client information.Ability to participate in meetings, presentations, training sessions, and occasional business travel as required.Benefits:Salaried, exempt position with a standard 40-hour workweek.Primary location in San Antonio, with experience working in a remote environment valued.Opportunities to influence HR strategy, organizational culture, employee engagement, and talent development at the executive level.Professional development opportunities through conferences, educational programs, and ongoing HR learning.Travel opportunities for team meetings, organization-wide events, and other business needs.A broad, strategic HR scope spanning talent acquisition, employee relations, benefits, compensation, compliance, culture, and professional development.
