Certification from the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainer is required. Completion of Athletic Training Education Program is required. Experience preferred. Description The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. SDST is committed to diversity in our workplace and welcomes the opportunity to consider all candidates. This position will be a full-time Athletic Trainer at SDST High School. Responsible for the prevention, evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation of student-athletes and related illness of SDST students. Provide athletic training services during the Fall, Winter and Spring sports seasons. Responsibilities Conduct an initial assessment of an athlete's injury or illness to provide emergency or continued care and to determine whether they should be referred to physicians for definitive diagnosis and treatment. Maintain appropriate general treatment orders to be reviewed annually and approved by the school physician. Act as a liaison between physicians and specialists, the school district, athletes and their parents. Facilitate accurate records of injuries, treatments and provide accident forms for sports injuries treated by a physician. Maintain a good working relationship with the faculty, student body, parents and coaching staff. Counsel and advise athletes, faculty and coaches pertaining to conditioning, nutrition and in the case of injury, rehabilitation. Maintain appropriate licensure and certification for the position by attending appropriate trainings or professional development. Care for athletic injuries using physical therapy equipment, techniques and medication. Evaluate athletes' readiness to play, and provide participation clearances when necessary and warranted. Apply protective or injury-preventative devices such as tape, bandages or braces to body parts such as ankles, fingers, or wrists. Assess and report the progress of recovering athletes to coaches and physicians. Collaborate with physicians to develop and implement comprehensive rehabilitation programs for athletic injuries. Communicate injury and necessary follow-up to parent/guardian of an injured athlete or student. Plan and implement comprehensive athletic injury and illness prevention programs. Maintain medical kits for each season. Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director. Travel with athletic teams to be available at sporting events as necessary. Willingness to work nights/weekends and travel as required. Terms of Employment Full-time position to be determined in accordance with the terms and conditions of the athletic trainer terms of employment plan. Position to begin as soon as possible. Position will be expected to work a total of 1650 hours spread out between August through May. Hours per day will vary per season with an average of 6-7 hours per day, 5-6 days per week. Schedule will be set by the Athletic Director monthly.
