To provide 'relief of poor and aged persons of both sexes, who by sickness, casualty or other causes be rendered incapable of attending their usual occupation or calling.'* Quoted from the 1897 Certificate of Corporation

The philosophy of the Job Haines Home is to deliver services in such a way so as to provide a high quality of life for its residents by fostering the residents' right to exercise their independence, individual personal expression and choice. The management of the Home recognizes that individuals have special needs and strives to meet those needs while assuring that their dignity and respect are maintained at all times.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Supervisor:

Maintenance Director

Status: Full Time: inlcuding every third weekend

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous experience as a driver or transporter for the elderly and/or disabled preferred. Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language required. MUST possess a current passenger drivers license from the State of New Jersey AND a "clean" driving record as verified by the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles. NOTE: The position of Driver ay require a CDL (Commercial driver's license) at some point in the future. If necessary, potential candidates must be CDL eligible and able to persue such licensure under the State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Division. Must have light Maintenance Skills.

Purpose:

The primary purpose of this position is to provide safe and dependable transportation for the residents of this facility and to maintain a favorable image of the facility when serving as a representative to the public. The Driver is expected to maintain the transportation program in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations, our established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by your supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Ability to follow oral directions.

Ability to follow written directions.

Ability to follow transportation schedules and instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures.

Ability to create and maintain a basic maintenance schedule for the routine and non-

Routine service needs of all facility vehicles (i.e. oil changes, tire rotation/changes, annual winterization, etc)

Ability to create and maintain schedules for compliance with State vehicle regulations (i.e. inspection, registration, etc.) for all facility vehicles.

Ability to clean facility vehicles (inside and out) in accordance with facility policy and procedure

Ability to report all unsafe/hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to your supervisor or Administrator immediately.

Ability to monitor vehicle mileage and need for refueling. Ability to refuel vehicles as necessary and in accordance with facility policy.

Ability to run errands as necessary and upon the direction of the Director of Plant Operations.

Ability to maintain facility driving logs in accordance with facility policy.

Ability to adhere to Job Haines Home Rules for Driving Facility Owned Vehicles (see attached)

Ability to attend in-service training programs as required.

Ability to observe all department and facility policies and procedures, including: infection control, sanitation, and fire prevention/safety.

Ability to follow Residents' Rights policies at all times. This includes the ability to maintain the confidentiality of resident care information.

Ability to turn in all found items to your supervisor.

Ability to come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.

Ability to carry out assigned duties (painting, snow removal, changing light bulbs, moving furniture etc) and other duties in a cooperative manner, and willingness to learn new tasks.

Ability to perform other related duties as directed by your supervisor.

Physical and SensoryRequirements

Ability to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
Compliance with applicable health laws and regulations, including but not limited to those relating to COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations.

MUST possess a current passenger driver's license from the State of New Jersey AND a "clean" driving record as verified by the New Jersey Department of Motor Vehicles.

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the work day.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must possess sight/hearing senses or use prosthesis that will enable these senses to function adequately so that the requirements of this position can be fully met.

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.

Must be able to lift and move residents, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
