POSITION DETAILS

Founded in 1971 in Long Island City, Queens, LaGuardia Community College is one of seven community colleges of the City University of New York (CUNY). LaGuardia offers more than sixty associate degree programs and more than fifty workforce training, ESOL, GED, and pre-college programs. In 2023, LaGuardia served approximately 24,000 students. More than one-third of LaGuardia’s degree-seeking students are born outside the United States; they come from 136 countries and speak 43 heritage languages. Sixty percent are first-generation college students. Virtually all LaGuardia students are ethnic minorities (89 percent), 58 percent are women, 27 percent are over the age of 25. Forty-six percent of associate degree students are Hispanic. Upon graduation most students transfer to four-year colleges, typically in CUNY, to complete their baccalaureate degrees. Graduates of career programs such as Nursing, Computer Technology, and Veterinary Technology enter the workforce. Reporting to the Director of Public Safety, the Administrative Manager performs various high level and time-sensitive administrative and operational assignments and projects. The Administrative Manager is a vital part of the Public Safety Department who exercises keen judgment and initiative to smoothly coordinate office functions, logistics, and information flows. He/she is a front-line representative of the department who maintains a courteous demeanor and professional decorum while performing his/her responsibilities. The Administrative Manager will be responsible for the following: Provides oversight for financial management, regulatory compliance, and communications In consultation with the Director or his designee, actively participates in the department's strategic planning process Monitors and assess office operations, making improvements or taking corrective action as needed Identifies complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions Create, implement and review selected processes Advises the Director of Public Safety or his designee on fiscal and organizational strategies to meet department needs Ensures the department is operating with the most current information regarding the College and University regulations and procedures. Manages special committees. Participates on behalf of the Director in meetings when needed and serve as a liaison between departments, divisions and other stakeholder groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree and six years' relevant experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Demonstrated interest in the field of higher education Strong writing and editing skills Proven ability to take a project from inception to completion Proven ability to prioritize tasks and initiate follow-through with meticulous attention to detail and high level of accuracy Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, show initiative, solve problems, handle multiple tasks, remain calm under pressure, and relate well to staff at all levels Working knowledge of PC-based work processing and other applications, including Power Point , Excel and Publisher Assist with the administration of employee time and leave records and ensure compliance with applicable College and University policies. Review and monitor overtime submissions for accuracy, completeness, and adherence to departmental procedures prior to approval. Coordinate procurement activities through the CUNY Buy system, including the preparation and tracking of requisitions, purchase orders, and vendor communications. Monitor departmental expenditures and assist the Director in budget planning, forecasting, and financial reporting.

$74,239 - $90,838 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
