Solar Site Field Engineer

We are seeking a Solar Site Field Engineer to support the successful delivery, installation, commissioning and ongoing performance of utility-scale and commercial solar photovoltaic projects. Working primarily on site, you will coordinate technical activities, monitor construction progress and help ensure that work is completed safely, on schedule and in accordance with approved designs, specifications and quality standards.


Your responsibilities will include reviewing engineering drawings, method statements and technical documentation; overseeing civil, structural, electrical and mechanical installation activities; and verifying that equipment and workmanship meet project requirements. You will work closely with contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and internal project teams to resolve technical issues, track defects and support corrective actions. The role will also involve conducting inspections, maintaining accurate site records, contributing to progress reports, supporting testing and commissioning, and ensuring compliance with health and safety, environmental and statutory requirements. You may be required to assist with site surveys, design changes, risk assessments and handover documentation.


Applicants should have a degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in electrical engineering, renewable energy, mechanical engineering, civil engineering or a related discipline, together with practical experience in solar PV construction, commissioning or site engineering. Knowledge of photovoltaic systems, inverters, electrical distribution, grid connection requirements and construction quality control is highly desirable. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, using standard reporting and document-control systems, and working with contractors in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to safety and quality. The role requires regular travel to project sites, the ability to work outdoors in changing conditions and a willingness to work flexible hours when project activities demand it.
