JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION: Lunch/Recess Monitor

JOB GOAL: The lunch/recess monitor will support students in the school during lunch and/or recess.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience working with children
• Flexible with duties and responsibilities. Ability to shift gears as needed.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist children in moving through the lunch line to ensure students are able to get lunch.
• Assist children as needed with opening food and drink containers.
• Monitor cafeteria during lunch to ensure that students are eating lunch and behaving according the the school rules.
• Wipe down tables at the end of each lunch group.
• Speak in a calm, professional manner to students and other staff members. No yelling at students.
• Actively play with children during recess.
• Assist children who need support
• Actively monitor playground for safety and ensuring students are playing safely.
• Help students transition to and from recess.
• Work collaboratively with the building administration, teachers and custodians to ensure that the lunch periods run smoothly and that recess is a safe and fun part of the day.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 180 Days. 2-3 hours per day, depending on the school.


REPORTS TO: Building Principals and Assistant Principals

Pay rate: $20.00 per hour
