Research Program Project Manager – Nanomedicine Location: Houston Methodist Academic Institute, 6670 Bertner Ave, Houston TX, 77030 Job Ref: 2025-76228 • Time Type: Full Time • Job Shift: Day • Job Type: Full Time The Research Program Project Manager at Houston Methodist is responsible for coordinating processes and systems that match the research and clinical interests of faculty and physicians within the Houston Methodist Research Institute (HMRI) and the Physician Organization (PO) with affiliated institutions. The role serves as liaison for the coordination of all current and ongoing activities of the program, supporting project development from pre‑clinical to clinical stages, and facilitating collaboration with internal and external investigators, industry partners, and clients. Key responsibilities include strategic planning, resource allocation (material and personnel), maintaining structured processes, and documentation in accordance with project needs. FLSA STATUS: Exempt Qualifications Education – Bachelors degree (Masters or terminal degree preferred) Experience – Three years of experience in a health center (academic or clinical) Licenses and Certifications – Portfolio Management Professional (PMP) (Required/Preferred) Skills and Abilities Demonstrates the skills and competencies necessary to safely perform the assigned job, determined through ongoing skills, competency assessments, and performance evaluations. Essential Functions People Essential Functions Coordinates face‑to‑face discussions between collaborators to facilitate effective knowledge transfer and record keeping; maintains positive working relationships for timely updates. Serves as liaison between multiple client groups and stakeholders across management levels, communicating results clearly and concisely with organized progress reports. Contributes to improvement of department scores for employee engagement and peer‑to‑peer accountability. Service Essential Functions Coordinates with CMP staff for emerging GLP device studies. Assists in preparation and coordination of business development materials and activities for the program; supports outreach, pilot programs, and project management of major projects/grants; helps write SOPs and regulatory documents. Maintains and provides in‑services for the HM Faculty Start‑Up Guide. Coordinates with internal ancillary offices such as technology transfer, legal, grants and contracts, and business practices. Quality/Safety Essential Functions Maintains organized records of successful collaborative projects and participants across disciplines for leadership and reporting purposes. Coordinates all elements required to translate pre‑clinical safety studies (DLP Good Laboratory Practices) in support of promising medical devices. Finance Essential Functions Understands project objectives, analyses information, and delineates measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely plans to assist program and project goals. Manages and maintains project‑relevant information and documentation from conception to completion, including regulatory and milestone (financial) records as required. Coordinates with ancillary offices (grants and contracts, legal, IACUC, radiation safety, MITIE, academic departments, etc.) for financial and regulatory needs. Utilizes resources with cost‑effectiveness and value creation in mind; self‑motivated to manage time and prioritize tasks independently while assisting coworkers as needed. Growth/Innovation Essential Functions Develops an inventory of support mechanisms through collaborations and service agreements for faculty startups (e.g., elevator pitches, market analysis, accounting, IT, incubator space).
