Associate Attorney

No litigation, no courtroom fights, no billable-hour grind. We meet with families, figure out what they need, and build plans that protect their life savings and the people they love. We are growing and we need a second attorney. We will pay $100,000 to start, put the training and resources in front of you to learn everything we know about estate planning, and give you a real say in where the firm goes next. In return, we need someone who is honest, does what they say they will do, and wants to be here for the long haul. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

*WHAT YOU WILL ACTUALLY DO*

• Meet with clients. You will lead initial consultations: listen to a family's situation, identify the issues, and recommend a plan. This is the heart of the job.
• Provide clear drafting notes. Clear notes on the problems identified and the solutions chosen, so the drafting team can build the plan correctly.
• Review the documents. Before anything is signed, you confirm the finished documents actually solve the problems you identified in the consultation.
• Sign clients up. You lead the review-and-signing meetings where clients see their plan and sign it.
• Get very good at this. Estate planning, protection trusts, Medicaid planning, probate, and trust administration. If you already know it, great. If not, we will give you the training and the resources, and you will own the work of getting there.

Your job is judgment, relationships, and getting it right.

We built this role so the compensation fits the person, not the other way around.

• Path A_ – Steady. $100,000 salary. Predictable schedule, predictable income. You do excellent work for the clients in front of you, go home at 5:00, and sleep well. If that is what you want, that is a complete and valued role here, not a consolation prize.
• Path B _– Ambitious. Same $100,000 base, plus revenue sharing on the business you help bring in and close. There is no ceiling on this path. As the firm grows, the attorney who helps get us there will share in it.

*WHO THIS IS FOR*

• Licensed to practice law in Missouri (or admitted elsewhere and eligible for Missouri admission).
• Connected to Southeast Missouri. You live here, you grew up here, or you have a real reason to plant roots here. This is a long-term role in a specific community, and we will ask about this.
• Comfortable sitting across the table from a family and leading the conversation.
• Detail-oriented. The documents we produce have to be right the first time.
• Coachable. You want feedback, and you get better when you get it.
• Takes ownership. You see what needs to happen next and you do it.

New graduates and attorneys changing practice areas are welcome. We care more about character and trajectory than your current résumé.

*WHO THIS IS NOT FOR*

We would rather say this now than find out in six months.

• If you make a mistake and your instinct is to cover it rather than flag it, this is not the place. We fix problems together; we do not hide them.
• If things go wrong and your first move is to point at someone else, this is not the place.
• If you tend toward negativity, or the way things are today is the way you would like them to stay, this is not the place. We are regularly updating our processes to improve our systems and client experience. This adaptation and improvement is a team effort.

• $100,000 base salary. Revenue sharing available on the Ambitious path.
• Office hours 8:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday.
