Mechanical Estimator

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Mechanical Estimator to join our team in the Sterling, MA area. This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial and residential mechanical construction projects, including HVAC systems, ductwork, pipefitting, refrigeration systems, chilled and hot water piping, and boiler piping.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems and construction practices, along with the ability to analyze project plans, specifications, and bid documents to develop comprehensive project estimates. This position works closely with project managers, engineers, vendors, subcontractors, and sales teams to ensure timely, profitable, and competitive bids.

Pay is $110,000 to $125,000 a year with benefits

Key Responsibilities

• Review project drawings, specifications, and bid documentation to determine project scope and requirements
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for mechanical systems, including HVAC equipment, ductwork, piping, controls, and related components
• Prepare accurate estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work
• Solicit, analyze, and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations
• Identify cost-saving opportunities, value-engineering options, and potential project risks
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams throughout the bidding process
• Maintain estimating databases, historical cost records, and pricing information
• Assist with bid submissions, presentations, and post-bid clarifications as needed
• Ensure estimates are completed accurately and submitted within required deadlines

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Estimator, HVAC Estimator, or in a similar estimating role
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, construction methods, and applicable codes
• Experience estimating HVAC systems, ductwork, refrigeration piping, chilled/hot water systems, and boiler piping
• Proficiency with Bluebeam
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
