Relief Call Center Dietetic Assistant (Newark, CA) (multiple openings & shifts)

Job Overview Relief Call Center Dietetic Assistants at Stanford Health Care provide patient, visitor, and staff meal ordering support via phone in an off‑site call/service center. All frontline Call Center Dietetic Assistants start as Relief workers. After passing competency checks, Relief employees may apply for Part‑Time or Full‑Time positions with guaranteed hours and benefits. Shift Information Day Shift – 5:55 am – 2:25 pm Mid Shift – 11:30 am – 8:00 pm Evening Shift – 12:35 pm – 9:05 pm Rotating 4–8‑hour shifts Schedule & Availability A Relief position does not have a scheduled set of hours, guaranteed hours, or benefits. Relief employees may be included on the work schedule released every two weeks, and many hours come from same‑day calls. They must be available to work weekends and two weekdays. Relationships with Others Regular telephone interactions with patients, visitors, clinical staff, and the public; in‑person contact with co‑workers. Supervision Received During learning phase, receive supervision and support from a supervisor or manager. As proficiency increases, supervision becomes general. Work is reviewed by supervision occasionally by observation and document review. Follow all applicable regulatory requirements, procedures, and SHC policies. Locations Stanford Health Care Education Qualifications High school diploma, or GED equivalent Experience Qualifications One (1) or more years of customer service, food service, and/or call‑center experience. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A practical knowledge of nutrition and medical terminology is desirable. Basic computer skills and ability to quickly learn menu ordering software. Skilled in the use of office equipment (computers, calculators, telephones, fax machines, answering machines, photocopy machines). Strong interpersonal and customer‑service skills; provide outstanding service at all times. Ability to learn and work within established standards, policies and procedures. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to answer telephones courteously. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, and be understood by individuals of various ages. Ability to maintain confidentiality and uphold patient privacy standards. Ability to make sound judgments, problem‑solve and maintain composure in stressful situations. Good problem‑solving and negotiation skills to help patients select meals that meet diet guidelines.
