About the Position

It has received national recognition for patient safety and nursing excellence. The facility serves as a referral center for trauma, stroke, and neonatal intensive care. It offers a busy robotic surgery program and is the only center for open heart and interventional cardiology in the region. This ICU unit has a patient ratio of either 2:1 or 1:1 depending on acuity, with occasional 3:1 ratios. Registered nurses work without unit secretaries or patient care technicians. Equipment includes ventilators, telemetry, IV pumps, IABP, CRRT, and Impella. The documentation system used is Cerner. Staff are required to work 36 hours per week with alternating weekends. Float policies apply for travelers to all areas. Experience in an ICU setting is required. Titration of vesicant medications and familiarity with advanced patient management techniques are essential. Skills in cardiac interventions including cardioversion, central line insertion, chest tube insertion, and thoracentesis are performed on this unit. Dress code requires adherence to specific scrubs without pullovers or hoodies. Additional training or experience with specific equipment and procedures is appreciated.
