Weekend Respiratory Therapist (RT)

Respiratory Therapist (RT) Full‑time, motivated Respiratory Therapist needed to provide high‑quality care to a geriatric population within a skilled nursing facility. Must hold a current state license, be capable of evaluating and treating independently, and commit to enhancing residents’ respiratory health and overall well‑being. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive respiratory assessments and develop individualized therapy plans. Implement and monitor therapeutic modalities, including oxygen therapy, oxygen weaning, aerosol therapy, PEP, incentive spirometry, chest physiotherapy, postural drainage, and airway suctioning (oropharyngeal, nasopharyngeal, tracheostomy). Operate, maintain, and document use of respiratory equipment; complete caseload tracking and audit. Provide bedside treatments and manage acute crises, such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation and airway emergencies. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care decisions. Deliver quarterly in‑service training to nursing staff and provide ongoing staff education. Maintain accurate documentation (daily, weekly, monthly) in compliance with facility, regulatory, and payer requirements. Engage in quality improvement activities, including data entry, audits, and process optimization. Adhere to safety protocols, calibrate equipment, use correct body mechanics, and don appropriate PPE. Work flexible scheduling, including weekends, and perform functional therapeutic activities to enhance residents’ experience. Qualifications Graduate of a COARC‑accredited AS or BS Respiratory Therapy program. Licensed as RRT or CRT in the state of practice; BLS certification required. Experience in long‑term care or rehabilitation settings. Proficiency with the therapeutic modalities listed above. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational, leadership, and decision‑making abilities. Capacity to work independently and within an interdisciplinary team.
