Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting elementary students with moderate to severe needs for the duration of the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position, based near Berkeley, offers a consistent weekday schedule totaling 35.87 hours per week. You’ll work closely with a dedicated group of 11 students within an Elementary Special Needs (ESN) classroom, providing impactful education and individualized support in a vibrant school environment.
This role welcomes passionate Special Education professionals eager to facilitate growth and success for young learners. Competitive hourly compensation, ranging from $50 to $60 depending on experience, reflects the level of expertise and dedication that these students require.
Qualifications & Experience
- Active California teaching credential with Moderate/Severe specialization (non-negotiable)
- Prior experience with ESN/populations or in a special education classroom preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, progress monitoring, and differentiated instruction
- Dedication to fostering a nurturing, inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Solid communication skills for collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and families
Responsibilities
- Instruct elementary students (mod/severe) following IEPs and evidence-based strategies
- Develop curriculum adaptations and deliver direct teaching in both academic and functional skills
- Collect ongoing assessment data, monitor progress, and adjust instruction to meet individual needs
- Maintain accurate records and participate in all required meetings and compliance activities
- Collaborate with support staff and related service providers to ensure comprehensive care
