Senior Accountant

This position will be responsible for supporting accurate and timely financial reporting through journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset and project accounting, and regulatory reporting. This role plays a key part in the monthly close process, supports audit and regulatory requirements, and partners cross‑functionally to ensure data quality and process efficiency. Duties and Responsibilities Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation Prepare account analyses and reconciliations; investigate and resolve variances Coordinate with other departments to analyze and review various inputs to the monthly close process to confirm quality and accuracy of the process Create capital projects and review projects created by other departments Perform monthly fixed asset and project accounting, including AFUDC processing, depreciation, and additions, retirements, transfers, and other fixed asset transactions Ensure proper capitalization in accordance with company policy, U.S. GAAP, and regulatory requirements Assist with preparation and review of monthly and annual reports for the Public Service Commission Provide data and supporting schedules for FERC Form 2 and other regulatory filings Support internal and external audit requests Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements Complete special projects and ad hoc requests as assigned Excellent written and verbal communication skills Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy Required Education (certifications, licenses) Bachelor’s degree in accounting or similar degree, required. CPA desired or working toward CPA certification. Required knowledge, skill and abilities At least 3 years’ relevant experience required. Experience with FERC and utility regulatory accounting strongly preferred. Strong, detailed knowledge of US GAAP, required. Advanced skills and experience with Microsoft Excel required. Experience working in large scale ERP systems such as Oracle, Oracle HFM experience strongly preferred.
