Senior Reinsurance Claims Manager

Salary Range: $165,000.00 To $190,000.00 Annually AmericanAg®, a global provider of diversified reinsurance services, is seeking a Senior Reinsurance Claims Manager to work from our Schaumburg, Illinois office. This hybrid role requires office presence at least three days per week and involves up to 15% to 20% travel. The Senior Reinsurance Claims Manager will oversee the evaluation, administration, and reimbursement of reinsurance claims, ensuring accurate, timely, and contractually compliant outcomes that protect the organization’s financial interests. Claims handled will include extra contractual obligations, excess policy limits, bad faith, pollution, workers’ compensation, and occurrence catastrophe. Acting as a trusted consultant to internal and external stakeholders, the manager will lead teams in identifying, tracking, and presenting complex claims and risk‑management topics. The Senior Reinsurance Claims Manager is responsible for: Maintaining a working knowledge of AmericanAg® reinsurance programs and efficiently handling claims to ensure clients receive full benefit. Traveling and providing education, claim review, evaluations, consultation, and assistance to assigned accounts. Interacting and engaging comfortably, appropriately, and positively with senior managers and executives. Building credibility and influence with cross‑functional teams through subject‑matter expertise in reinsurance treaty analysis, claims handling practices, and emerging industry trends. Presenting at client and industry conferences, seminars, or continuing education programs, clearly communicating complex insurance issues. Qualifications Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience; JD is a plus. 8+ years of complex claims handling experience, including extra contractual obligations, excess policy limits, bad faith, pollution, and/or workers’ compensation. Reinsurance claims experience and experience working in private practice with a focus on insurance defense is a plus. Experience drafting clear, concise legal analyses, coverage evaluations, position statements, and internal guidance documents. Experience presenting at insurance, claims, or legal seminars, conferences, or continuing education programs, effectively translating complex legal concepts for operational teams. Professional designations such as CPCU or ARe preferred. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, along with strong problem‑solving and analytical skills. Ability to manage data effectively through technology. Expected starting salary range: $165,000 to $190,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience and other job‑related factors. This position is also eligible for an annual productivity bonus. We do not sponsor employment visas and are unable to take over an employment visa from another employer.
