Graduate Assistant for Sports Information

- # Description---**Graduate Assistant, Sports Information****Charleston Southern University**---**Summary**Reporting to the Assistant AD for Communications/PR, the Graduate Assistant for the Athletic Communications Office assists with the publicity efforts of the University’s 17 NCAA Division I intercollegiate sports and helps oversee the athletic department’s web page, social media accounts, press releases and statistical records. This position will be the primary sports information contact for sports assigned. Night and weekend work required as needed. ---**Work Performed****Media and Public Relations*** Designated primary contact for selected sports to all local, regional, and national media outlets. Coordinates all interviews for coaches and staff for assigned sports. Supervise and approve content posted on all program/department social media accounts for assigned sports. Produce content and develop program media guides and other printed materials for assigned sports. Schedule and produce video content for distribution for assigned sports. Tasked writing game recaps, feature stories and other general press releases for assigned sports. Also assist in the archival process and other various departmental research projects.**Website*** Oversee and assist in planning all content published on csusports.com. Conduct routine general website maintenance and enhancements.**Statistics and Program Records*** Management and distribution of Live Stats and StatCrew/Genius files for all assigned events and sports. Maintain and update program record books for assigned sports in a timely manner.**Gameday/Event Operations*** Oversight of gameday media staff both part-time and full-time staff. Management of press box and table at select events. Coordinate execution of gameday scripts and PA reads with Marketing department. Manages scoreboard operations at select sporting event. Scheduling and management of gameday staff both part-time and full-time staff.**Design Elements and Graphics*** Collaborate and design all published content, promotional materials, and social media graphics for assigned sports.**Supervisor Responsibility*** 30-60 assorted part-time and game day staff, work study students and interns.Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein or assigned by the supervisor of this role.---## Qualifications**Education**Bachelor’s Degree & acceptance into a Charleston Southern University Graduate program.---**Skills**Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook). Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices. Self-starter with an outstanding work ethic. 1-3 years’ experience in a related field strongly preferred. Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) strongly preferred.---**Essential Job Functions** Certain jobs at Charleston Southern University may require specific physical and/or mental abilities and the hiring manager will provide additional information and provision of requests for reasonable accommodation if needed.
