Staff Accountant

Staff Accountant (Temp-to-Hire) Location: Maplewood, NJ (Hybrid) Our client, a growing and collaborative organization in the Maplewood, NJ area, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join their team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to expand their experience in a hands‑on role with the potential for long‑term employment. Key Responsibilities Process customer invoices, vendor payments, and cash receipts. Review and code accounts payable invoices while ensuring proper approvals. Maintain accurate vendor and customer records within the accounting system. Assist with month‑end and quarter‑end close activities, including account reconciliations and financial reporting. Prepare financial analyses and reports for management. Support quarterly inventory counts and related accounting activities. Assist with annual audits by preparing requested documentation. Ensure compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal reporting requirements. Research and resolve vendor and customer account discrepancies. Maintain organized accounting records and documentation. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3-5 years of hands‑on accounting experience. Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and VLOOKUPs. Experience with Sage 100 is preferred. Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Detail-oriented, proactive, and able to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
