Registered Nurse Emergency Dept

Overview Registered Nurses in the Emergency Department play a critical role in delivering patient-centered care. They work collaboratively with the care team, advocate for patients and families, and support organizational goals of excellent patient experience and outcomes. Responsibilities Assesses patient pain regularly and promotes effective pain management. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s) and documents care in the medical record. Responds promptly to patient requests and anticipates and resolves patient needs proactively. Teaches patients, families, and caregivers about medical conditions, treatment plans, medications, side effects, and follow-up measures, using clear, non-technical language. Provides instruction on non-medical follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes to prepare patients and families for self-management. Qualifications RN license (Registered Nurse) and relevant RN Diploma, Associate Degree, or Bachelor’s Degree. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification must be obtained within 90 days of employment start date. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date. NIH Stroke Scale certification within 90 days of employment start date. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification within 1 year of employment start date. Trauma Nursing Core Course certification within 6 months of employment start date. Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course or PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification within 90 days of employment start date. No travel required. Minimum 6 months experience in emergency nursing.
