Responsibilities

• Draw blood samples from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations, following established procedures and safety standards.
• Prepare and process specimens for lab testing, ensuring proper labeling, documentation, and accuracy.
• Verify patient demographic information and secure patient signatures post-venipuncture to confirm correct labeling and identification.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment, adhering to safety policies and procedures.
• Communicate clearly with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns to foster trust and confidence.
• Perform daily activities accurately and efficiently under the supervision of the area supervisor, contributing to process excellence.
• Maintain required records and documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory standards.
• Travel between multiple locations as needed, including patient service centers and in-office phlebotomy sites, often with minimal notice.
• Demonstrate leadership behaviors, confidentiality, and a commitment to quality patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Required Skills

• Ability to draw blood samples accurately and safely from patients of all ages, including pediatric and geriatric populations.
• Strong organization skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities in high-volume environments.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, peers, and supervisors.
• Good judgment and decision-making abilities based on established procedures.
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record if applicable.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changing schedules.

Additional Skills & Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant or paramedic training is preferred.
• Phlebotomy certification is preferred; relevant work experience of at least three years in phlebotomy is required.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a patient service center environment is preferred.
• Experience with pediatric and geriatric blood collection, including capillary sampling.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
• Must list home city and commute time on resume; candidates within a 20-25 minute commute are preferred.
