Position: IT Business Systems Analyst FLSA: Exempt Company: Gibson Location: Downers Grove, IL Department: Administration Reports to: Information Technology Director General Summary The IT Business Systems Analyst is responsible for driving continuous improvement across the company’s business systems, processes, and technology stack. This role owns the functional performance of core business systems, including ERP and related applications and focuses on optimization, automation, and alignment with business objectives. The position introduces dedicated capacity for improvement initiatives by translating business needs into system enhancements, leading upgrades and automation efforts, and ensuring systems are documented, scalable, and effectively utilized. Purpose of the Role This role exists to proactively improve how the business operates through technology, reducing manual effort, increasing system adoption, and ensuring business systems evolve alongside organizational needs. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Note: other duties may be assigned. Business Systems Ownership Serve as the functional owner for business systems, including the Vista platform and supporting applications within the company’s technology stack. Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, IT infrastructure resources, and external vendors related to system functionality and enhancements. Ensure systems are configured and utilized to support efficient, consistent business processes. Process Improvement & Optimization Analyze existing business processes to identify inefficiencies, gaps, and opportunities for improvement. Partner with business units to redesign workflows and implement process improvements using system capabilities and best practices. Measure and document the impact of improvements on efficiency, accuracy, and scalability. Automation & Workflow Development Design and build automation workflows to reduce manual tasks and streamline business operations. Leverage available platforms and tools (e.g., workflow engines, low‑code solutions, integrations) to implement practical automation solutions. Maintain and enhance existing automations as business needs evolve. System Enhancements & Upgrades Lead planning and execution of system upgrades, enhancements, and new feature rollouts. Coordinate testing, validation, and deployment activities to ensure minimal business disruption. Manage system changes through structured change management and communication practices. Technology Evaluation & Strategic Input Research and evaluate industry‑level technologies, tools, and trends relevant to business systems and operations. Provide recommendations for system improvements, new solutions, or integrations based on business value and return on investment. Support IT leadership with analysis and input for technology roadmaps and improvement initiatives. Documentation & Standardization Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), process documentation, and system usage guides. Ensure documentation remains current and accessible to support consistency and knowledge transfer. Promote standardization of processes and system usage across departments. Role Alignment and Responsibility This role is improvement‑focused, not operational support. The IT Business Systems Analyst: Owns system functionality and process optimization. Drives automation and enhancement initiatives. Leads upgrades and continuous improvement efforts. The role does not provide routine end‑user support or manage infrastructure, except as needed to support system improvement initiatives and coordination. Job Specifications Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Minimum of 4–6 years of experience working with enterprise business systems, ERP platforms, or business process improvement initiatives. Technical & Analytical Skills Strong experience working with ERP systems and integrated business applications. Experience designing or supporting automation and workflow solutions. Ability to analyze business processes and translate requirements into system improvements. Proficiency with documentation tools and structured process modeling. Professional Skills Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Excellent written and verbal communication abilities. Organized, detail‑oriented, and methodical approach to improvement initiatives. Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands‑on execution. Accountability and Measurement Effectiveness and adoption of system improvements and enhancements. Reduction of manual processes through automation. Quality and accuracy of documentation and SOPs. Timely delivery of system upgrades and improvement initiatives. Alignment of business systems with organizational objectives. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal. Compensation and Benefits Compensation Range: $95K - $110K based on qualifications and experience. Other Compensation: This position is bonus eligible.
