Food Service AssistantThe person in this position will fill a variety of needs and support the Food Service and Events department. They will function in a team environment. They will support a high quality atmosphere/environment allowing for the various programs to thrive. They will provide excellent service to all who participate in functions held at the Kroc Center. Their character and attitude must always promote the principles in keeping with the Mission of The Salvation Army.ResponsibilitiesGeneral:Prepares and serves food in an attractive mannerWorks in the dish pit and busing/cleaning tablesUse excellent communication skills to work positively with different populations and build rapport with clientsEnsure that a safe and healthy environment exists for patronsWill communicate clearly and specifically with Food Service & Events Manager and Kitchen Supervisor.Strictly adheres to prescribed standardized recipes and kitchen proceduresDiligently works at his/her given tasks and offers help to others when neededMaintains good personal hygienePerforms given duties at special meal functionsRelates successfully with peers, children and publicFollows all necessary health requirements and dress codeGive the Food Service & Events Manager & Kitchen Supervisor advanced notice if unable to be at scheduled shiftMaintain any certificationsWill work evening and weekend hours to assist with special programming and eventsEquipment:He/she acquaints themselves with all kitchen and concession equipment. This includes slicers, overs, steamers, commercial mixers, grills, and dishwasher.Maintains orderly and clean work areasAdheres to strict sanitary standardsKeep up-to-date on cooking and equipment trendsAll other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by the Kitchen Supervisor and Food Service & Events ManagerQualificationsPreferred 2 years of professional cooking experience.Preferred proficiency with knife skills such as dice, chop and julienne.A person of good characterAble to follow directionsWilling to work a variety of schedules as neededMust be able to work well with othersThe Salvation Army's Mission Statement The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.
