Located next door to Old Folsom Prison, California State Prison - Sacramento (SAC) is a licensed health care facility that provides patient services twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Department Website: Job Description And Duties Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 17, and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent. Under the supervision of the Chief Nurse Executive or Director of Nursing, the Nurse Instructor (NI), Correctional Facility (CF), is responsible for planning, developing, implementing, assessing, and evaluating the training, educational and competency programs for all nursing personnel in compliance with the Incarcerated Medical Services Policies and Procedures, the Mental Health Services Delivery System (MHSDS) Program Guide, and the various levels of nursing licensure. The NI, CF is responsible to work with management and other health care providers to address and meet the ongoing training needs of the staff, to facilitate and provide orientation programs for new employees, and to promote the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources. The NI, CF is experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of the nursing process, to include nursing protocols, policies and procedures, treatments, etc.; nursing scopes of practice; principles, methods and strategies of teaching and learning, and needs of adult learners. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current license as a Registered Nurse in California. (Applicants who do not meet this requirement will be admitted to the examination, but they must secure the required license before they will be considered eligible for appointment.) Either I: Possession of a valid California standard designated subjects teaching credential with specialization in vocational trade and technical teaching or equivalent credential. (Applicants who do not possess the required credential may take the examination but before appointment must have on file with the State Department of Education an application to secure the credential and must secure the credential within 90 working days after appointment. After issuance, the credential must be maintained by completion of any examinations and course work required.) OR II: Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in teaching nursing or in staff development. OR III: Experience: One year of working experience as a Registered Nurse. (Possession of a Master's Degree in Nursing may be substituted for the required experience.) AND: Education: Possession of a bachelor's degree.
