On-site Staffing Services is seeking Crate Builders/Packers for one of our clients located in Franklin, WI.

Responsible for constructing wooden crates and securely packing a variety of materials in accordance with the HPE Standard Guidelines using hand tools, power tools, and material handling equipment. Must be able to use established processes and procedures.

1st Shift: Monday-Friday 6:30am to 2:30pm

2nd Shift: Monday-Friday 2:30pm to 10:30pm

Responsibilities:

• Read and understand building plans outlined by the crate building software, BoxCAD. 
• Perform all established building tasks required to construct a wooden crate per the BoxCAD production plans. 
• Identify crate specific materials and match specific crate for packaging. 
• Perform all established packing steps for a wide variety standard, routine materials (generator parts) to include measuring materials, securely bracing and protecting materials with foam cushion, strapping, foil sealing and other types of packing material as appropriate. 
• Has responsibility to complete required paperwork processes. 
• Perform routine and minor maintenance on equipment. 
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment in all areas utilized by the department 
• Responsible for communicating, instructing, directing, and training new builders when so instructed. 
• Perform related duties as needed by Crating Management. 

Experience Requirements

·         High School or GED preferred. 

·         Able to understand different wood types.

·         Able to identify common lumber sizes.

·         Must be able to accurately read and use a tape measure, including common fractional measurements.

·         Experience in the same or similar position preferred. 

Qualifications & Skills:

·         General knowledge of hand tools, power tools, industrial equipment and material handling. 

·         Experience in woodworking. 

·         Ability to securely position and brace materials within a pre-measured crate. 

·         Has responsibility to perform daily checklists for forklifts, cranes, and cleaning of equipment.  

·         Performs routine and minor maintenance on equipment. 

·         Ability to maintain proper paperwork, have knowledge and ability to perform simple mathematical calculations and complete production records. 

·         Properly use and understand measurement tools within the crate building area. 

·         Ability to stand and walk on concrete floors for an extended period of time. 

Must have the ability to measure, mark, cut, assemble, fasten, and brace wood components used to build crates and pallets.

Must have sufficient English language proficiency to read and understand work instructions, safety requirements, BoxCAD production plans, measurements, labels, and required documentation, and to communicate effectively regarding job and safety requirements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee frequently is required to use hand to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and climb or balance. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee will need to be able to talk or hear.  

·         The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift up to 50+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee performs their work in a manufacturing setting indoors. The employee is also exposed to occupational hazards including but not limited to, moving auxiliary equipment high levels of power potential, physical obstacles, exposure to chemicals, slippery walking surfaces, and moving vehicles,etc. 

·         Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment as designated by the company including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, clothing and footwear in the appropriate areas and must follow safety practices.
