By sharing your journey and walking alongside others, you'll help individuals overcome addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring disorders while building healthier, more meaningful lives.
What You'll Do
As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll work alongside therapists, providers, case managers, and community partners to provide recovery-focused support for individuals seeking lasting recovery. You'll:
- Build trusting, supportive relationships with clients.
- Help individuals identify personal recovery goals and develop realistic action plans.
- Encourage hope while celebrating progress and personal achievements.
- Teach coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and healthy communication.
- Help clients recognize their strengths and overcome barriers to recovery.
- Support employment, education, and community involvement.
- Connect clients with valuable community resources.
- Advocate for clients during treatment team meetings and appointments.
- Serve as a positive role model by sharing your own recovery experience appropriately.
- Support all pathways of recovery, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
- Complete documentation accurately and maintain client confidentiality.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to changing lives.

Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Willing to obtain Certified Peer Support certification within 6 months of employment.
- Must have personal, lived experience in their own recovery from addiction, mental illness, or co-occurring substance and mental disorders.
- Minimum recovery time of 1-2 years
- Experience working in behavioral health, social work, case management, or related field preferred
- Must have a valid drivers license
