What You'll Do

As a Peer Support Specialist, you'll work alongside therapists, providers, case managers, and community partners to provide recovery-focused support for individuals seeking lasting recovery. You'll:

• Build trusting, supportive relationships with clients.
• Help individuals identify personal recovery goals and develop realistic action plans.
• Encourage hope while celebrating progress and personal achievements.
• Teach coping strategies, problem-solving skills, and healthy communication.
• Help clients recognize their strengths and overcome barriers to recovery.
• Support employment, education, and community involvement.
• Connect clients with valuable community resources.
• Advocate for clients during treatment team meetings and appointments.
• Serve as a positive role model by sharing your own recovery experience appropriately.
• Support all pathways of recovery, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT).
• Complete documentation accurately and maintain client confidentiality.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team dedicated to changing lives.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Willing to obtain Certified Peer Support certification within 6 months of employment.
• Must have personal, lived experience in their own recovery from addiction, mental illness, or co-occurring substance and mental disorders.
• Minimum recovery time of 1-2 years
• Experience working in behavioral health, social work, case management, or related field preferred
• Must have a valid drivers license
