Accounting Manager II

Summary

Manages and oversees general accounting activities to ensure the accuracy integrity and timeliness of financial reporting. Responsible for coordinating month-end quarter-end and year-end close processes maintaining effective internal controls supporting financial audits and providing financial analysis to leadership. Partners with operational and business leaders to support decision-making improve processes and enhance financial performance. May supervise accounting staff and serve as a subject matter expert for accounting policies procedures and compliance requirements.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes ensuring accuracy and adherence to established deadlines.
• Review and approve journal entries account reconciliations and supporting documentation prepared by accounting staff.
• Maintain oversight of general ledger activity and balance sheet reconciliations ensuring timely identification and resolution of discrepancies.
• Prepare and review financial statements management reports forecasts budgets and variance analyses to support business decisions.
• Lead accounting support for internal and external audits ensuring compliance with company policies internal controls and regulatory requirements.
• Partner with operations and business leaders to provide financial insights evaluate operational performance and support strategic initiatives.
• Monitor and implement accounting policies procedures and process improvements to enhance efficiency accuracy and internal controls.
• Analyze complex financial transactions and provide recommendations on accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
• Support cash management activities working capital initiatives and other financial planning efforts as assigned.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional projects system implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor train and provide guidance to accounting staff fostering professional development and ensuring consistent application of accounting practices.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.

Skills & Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) financial reporting and internal control concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to manage accounting processes in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong analytical problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to interpret financial results and effectively communicate findings to management.
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables lookups data analysis and financial modeling.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail accuracy accountability and professional integrity.
• Proven ability to lead projects influence stakeholders and drive process improvements.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring accounting personnel preferred.

Education

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting Finance or related field required.
• CPA preferred.

Experience

• 7-10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience.
• Minimum of 2 years of leadership supervisory or project leadership experience preferred.
• Experience supporting manufacturing industrial energy or multi-site operations preferred.
• Experience with financial audits month-end close management budgeting forecasting and internal controls required.
