HSE Region Manager

The primary purpose of the HSE Regional Manager is to provide leadership and direction to ensure that the assigned locations are fully compliant in Environmental Health & Safety. This is a heavy‑travel position with up to 80% travel within the assigned region (26 facilities in NC, SC, GA, AL, TN). The assigned facilities will be visited on a regular rotation. Position Responsibilities EHS technical expert, responsible for the strategic planning, technical support and overall management of environmental, health, safety and industrial hygiene issues for the assigned region Travel to assigned locations/facilities to lead, coach and conduct inspections to identify EHS hazards and determine corrective actions Lead EHS operating‑culture change using Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) principles Lead and manage compliance programs, procedures and policies associated with federal, state and local regulations, acting as liaison with external legal and regulatory personnel and agencies Collaborate with internal teams (Operations, Human Resources, IT) to embed EHS considerations into business practices, projects and new initiatives Develop and implement a safety‑oriented strategy across the region, measuring and reporting key metrics; prepare reports and dashboards on EHS KPIs as required Create action plans to meet specific environmental, health and safety objectives; employ a risk‑based approach to ensure implementation of life‑saving actions Maintain and execute an EHS compliance calendar for all required regulatory and policy activities for all assigned locations Work with regional leadership to ensure all key EHS operational controls are in place and that action items are resolved timely Conduct site visits and assessments to evaluate compliance with OSHA standards, prioritizing programs to address gaps Review and report EHS performance, identifying improvement opportunities and implementing preventative and corrective actions Own incident management and investigation; lead site‑level root‑cause investigations, develop and implement corrective actions, and track to closure Monitor and report status and effectiveness of EHS corrective and preventive actions; verify completion Ensure mandatory regulatory event reporting (OSHA, EPA, etc.) is completed on time with integrity (e.g., annual OSHA 300 log, notification of serious accidents, hospitalizations, death) Perform risk and hazard assessments (JSA) and PPE assessments Develop and implement site emergency response plans, serving as emergency coordinator for events Drive proactive EHS excellence through cross‑functional cooperation, communication and training; work with EHS Training Team on development and deployment Maintain required local systems for environmental permitting, analytical testing and record keeping to maintain compliance Partner with business leaders to promote a proactive safety culture focused on incident prevention and regulatory compliance Advise commercial/sales staff on EHS implications of new or changed services and/or product offerings Own audit actions to ensure regulatory compliance Maintain accurate and timely EHS record keeping, document management and effective case management Coordinate all regulatory and company‑required EHS testing and training, collaborating with the “E” and “H” teams Establish and foster mutually beneficial relationships with internal and external clients, communicating and influencing effectively at multiple levels to achieve results Have awareness of chemical industry practices Assist internal/external legal counsel in preparing legal and technical defenses in regulatory enforcement actions and related matters Stay current on regulatory and industry trends, best practices, and participate in relevant industry associations and groups Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in EHS or related science field (highly desired); master’s degree preferred. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, >10 years’ experience in an EHS function will be considered Minimum 5 years’ experience in an EHS function within a high‑risk industry Working knowledge of EHS regulations with a strong understanding of OSHA and EPA laws Basic management skills, including formalized methodologies (goal setting, performance tracking, etc.) Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong business acumen Preference for applicable EHS‑related professional certifications (ASP, CSP, IHIT, CIH, CHMM, etc.) Medical, dental and vision insurance 401(k) with generous employer match Paid time off, including 10 paid holidays Optional health savings account and flexible spending account #J-18808-Ljbffr Depot Connect International
