A confidential, mid-market business law firm is seeking a partner-level attorney to join its New York practice, with a primary focus on corporate and transactional work (including M&A and general business matters) and/or intellectual property counsel (including patent-focused practices with broader commercial advisory capability). THE ROLE

Develop and expand a portable practice while integrating into a broader business law platform Lead and manage sophisticated corporate transactions such as M&A, business sales, commercial contracts, corporate governance, and related general business matters For IP-focused partners, advise on intellectual property strategy and commercialization, with the ability to manage broader client business needs beyond a narrow specialty Maintain and deepen client relationships through responsive service, practical counseling, and proactive issue-spotting Collaborate across practices to identify cross-selling opportunities and deliver integrated solutions Mentor and support junior attorneys as needed and contribute to practice group growth

LOCATION, SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION

Location New York City, New York Compensation Base salary range: $250,000 to $700,000

REQUIREMENTS

10+ years of legal experience with an established practice and demonstrated client development success Minimum $500,000 portable book of business Corporate/transactional experience (including M&A and general business work) and/or IP experience with strong commercial advisory and client management capabilities Juris Doctor from an accredited law school Proven ability to originate, grow, and retain client relationships Strong drafting, counseling, and negotiation skills, with a high standard for quality and precision Collaborative, team-oriented approach and strong interpersonal judgment
