Project Accountant

PROJECT ACCOUNTANT – HYBRID/ONSITE – DIRECT HIRE!THE RIGHT STAFF has partnered with a leader in the engineering industry in their search for a Project Accountant to join their accounting team on a full-time basis.This role will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of client projects, from proposal through completion. Ideal candidates will have a deep understanding of project billing, invoicing, revenue recognition, and U.S. sales tax laws.Essential Job Duties:Partner closely with project managers to oversee the financial management of projects from start to finishEnsure all project-related documents, including proposals, purchase orders, and setup forms, are accurate and properly recordedSet up and manage client projects within our project accounting system, ensuring precise billing and reportingUnderstand and apply different billing methodologies such as cost-plus, lump-sum, and cost-plus-to-a-maximum, ensuring correct presentation of invoicesPrepare, review, and submit invoices to clients promptly and with precisionReview and approve vendor purchase orders and invoices related to each projectConduct regular project audits to validate cost-to-complete calculations, evaluate over/under work-in-progress (WIP), and address project variancesHandle multi-company project postings, ensuring revenue and expenses are allocated correctlyManage project-related accounts receivable, track payments, and resolve any discrepancies in cash receiptsApply U.S. sales tax regulations to professional services and material sales for projectsEnsure successful project closeout by resolving commitments and finalizing billingMinimum Requirements:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field highly preferredAt least 4+ years of experience in project accounting, including expertise in billing, accounts receivable, and revenue recognition requiredExperience in multi-company and multi-state sales tax requiredMicrosoft Office Suite knowledge and Excel proficiency requiredPosition Benefits, Pay, & Schedule:Pay ranges from $65k to $75k annually + annual bonusOffice located in Eden Prairie, MNHybrid/onsite work scheduleSchedule is Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm with some flexibilityDirect-hire opportunityHealth Insurance, ESOP, 401(k), tuition reimbursement, and much more included in full benefits packageAPPLY NOWPlease click Apply to submit your application.
