This is a rewarding opportunity to promote maternal-child health and provide expert lactation support to active-duty service members and their families.Schedule & Work HoursYearlong commitment with option to extend.Services provided Monday through Friday between 0600 and 1800Shifts typically 8.5–10.5 hours, including a 30–60 minute meal breakOne weekend per month (rotational)Maximum of 80 hours per two-week period, including weekends and holidaysThe facility operates on federally recognized holidaysMinimum QualificationsU.S. Citizenship requiredAssociate's Degree in Nursing (minimum)Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing programCurrent, full, active, unrestricted RN license (any U.S. state or territory)Minimum 1 year of RN experience within the last 2 yearsCurrent BLS certificationCurrent PALS certificationCurrent IBLCE Lactation Consultant Board CertificationAbility to meet credentialing and background requirementsPosition ResponsibilitiesThe RN Lactation Consultant will:Promote and advocate for breastfeeding throughout the organizationDevelop and implement lactation care standards and guidelinesProvide education and support to breastfeeding mothersCollaborate with Pediatrics, Family Practice, and OB/GYN departmentsAssist in organizing and preparing educational and marketing materials related to breastfeeding programsProvide direct patient care consistent with the RN scope of practiceParticipate in peer review, performance improvement, and quality assurance initiativesMaintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation in MHS GENESIS and other clinical systemsSupport emergency response procedures and infection control protocolsParticipate in the Family Advocacy Program requirementsAttend required annual military facility training (infection control, disaster preparedness, CBRNE, etc.)Provide in-service education and clinical guidance to support staff as neededWhy Join Jackson Healthcare Government Services?Opportunity to support active-duty military familiesStructured and collaborative clinical environmentLong-term government contract stabilityDedicated credentialing and onboarding assistanceIf you are a compassionate RN with lactation certification and a passion for maternal-child health, we encourage you to apply.Apply today to join Jackson Healthcare Government Services at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth.
