Tax Senior Manager

Location: Traverse City, MI

Compensation: $135,000 – $175,000 DOE

Schedule: Full-time

A regional public accounting and advisory firm is seeking an experienced Tax Senior Manager to join its Traverse City office. This is a strong opportunity for a senior tax professional who enjoys client relationships, technical tax review, mentoring staff, and helping grow a tax practice.

This role is ideal for someone who wants more than compliance work — someone who can manage complex tax engagements, advise clients, develop associates, and contribute to firm growth.

What You’ll Do

• Manage the preparation and review of individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and other entity tax returns
• Conduct tax research for complex and unique client situations
• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients and contribute to the success of their organizations
• Build strong internal relationships and collaborate across teams
• Provide direction, coaching, and new challenges to associates
• Teach, mentor, and develop team members as they grow in their careers
• Participate in activities that support firm growth and new business development
• Identify opportunities to introduce additional specialists and services to existing clients
• Deliver a high-quality client service experience
• Support a collaborative, people-focused team culture

What We’re Looking For

• 8+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or industry
• Active CPA license required
• MST is a plus
• Strong experience reviewing individual, corporate, partnership, S-Corp, and entity tax returns
• Experience managing tax engagements and client relationships
• Strong client service, communication, and relationship-building skills
• Passion for coaching, mentoring, and developing associates
• Interest in business development, practice growth, and client expansion
• Ability to develop creative business solutions in a team-based environment
• Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to bring new ideas
• Strong integrity, professionalism, and commitment to continuous improvement
