Pay Rate: $25.00 per hour Job Type: Contract 6 Months Work Schedule: Hybrid Onsite 6 Days per Month

Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounting Support Specialist to join a dynamic finance and accounting team. This role is ideal for someone with foundational accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and systems in a fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will support daily accounting operations, including billing, payment processing, account reconciliation, financial reporting, and process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Process disbursements, billing transactions, and payment applications accurately and efficiently.
• Prepare, review, and analyze accounting reports, financial statements, and account records.
• Perform variance and trend analysis to identify discrepancies and ensure financial accuracy.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and support timely financial reporting.
• Assist with account reconciliation and the resolution of billing or payment discrepancies.
• Support the development and documentation of accounting procedures and process improvements.
• Ensure compliance with internal accounting policies, financial controls, and applicable regulations, including GAAP and SOX requirements.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain efficient accounting workflows and resolve operational issues.
• Manage multiple accounting systems and administrative tasks while meeting established deadlines.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• 13 years of professional experience, preferably in accounting, finance, billing, or payment processing.
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including working with spreadsheets, formulas, and financial data.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple systems, and meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in an accounting or finance support role.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access databases, accounting software, or financial processing systems.
• Experience preparing financial reports, reconciling accounts, or processing payments.
• Understanding of general accounting principles and financial controls.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment.
