Senior Financial Analyst I – Institutional Planning and Analysis Location: Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, Downtown New Brunswick, NJ Position Status: Full Time Working Hours: 37.5 per week (Day shift) Grade: 28S Overview The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (INTS) is one of the nation’s leading tobacco-focused research centers. INT is experiencing dynamic growth, supported by—over $50 million in extramural funding in the past two decades. Our mission is to reduce and ultimately eliminate tobacco‑related morbidity and mortality through research, policy, and outreach. Posting Summary Rutgers is seeking a Senior Financial Analyst I to support the Institute’s financial planning, budgeting, and analysis. The analyst will conduct financial analysis, coordinate budget formulation, monitor spending, and present financial information to guide the organization’s programmatic objectives. Responsibilities Prepare budget and forecast for units within the Institute based on performance, revenue estimates, expense reports, and prior budgets. Support the institution’s annual RBHS budget preparation. Prepare financial analysis and consult with project PIs to monitor progress, recommending adjustments aligned with program changes and facilitating long‑term planning, including subaward monitoring. Review and approve departmental expenditures to ensure compliance with budget constraints, allowability, sponsor policy, and Rutgers policy. Direct the preparation of special budget reports to interpret directives and establish policies for execution. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field plus four (4) years of progressively responsible fiscal experience. Equivalent education and/or training may substitute for the formal education requirement. Strong business acumen, accounting skills, attention to detail, and organizational ability. Advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint; excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials. Experience managing a large portfolio of sponsored grants and contracts from diverse sponsoring agencies. Strong knowledge of research grant budgeting and federal guidelines/regulations relevant to research and development. Benefits Medical, prescription drug, and dental coverage.
