Position Summary
The Resident Assistant role is an entry-level healthcare opportunity designed for individuals looking to start a career in nursing or patient care. Resident Assistants support residents and the nursing team while preparing to attend a paid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) class, leading to New York State CNA certification.
This role offers a clear path into healthcare with training, mentorship, and long-term growth.
Primary Responsibilities
- Resident Support
- Respond promptly to call bells and resident needs
- Assist with transporting residents to activities or appointments
- Distribute clothing protectors and assist with meal service
- Daily Room Care
- Make beds, tidy resident rooms, and refill water pitchers
- Perform regular rounds to maintain clean and organized units
- Support of CNA Team
- Assist CNAs with resident showers by preparing supplies and clothing
- Help with bed-making and room setup
- Additional Duties
- Perform other tasks as assigned by nursing leadership
Qualifications
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Caring, patient, and respectful attitude toward the elderly
- Willingness to learn and follow direction
- Ability to remain on feet for most of the shift
- Ability to lift or move up to 35 lbs
- Full range of motion for bending, reaching, and lifting
