Payroll Specialist - Tax

Position Purpose: The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll operations for our business customers. This position demands a detail‑oriented professional, proficient in Workday, to manage high‑volume payroll processing, conduct audits, and perform reconciliation duties, contributing to the team’s productivity and efficiency in a fast‑paced environment. By collaborating closely with HR teams and management, the Payroll Specialist ensures compliance with all legal and institutional requirements while maintaining client privacy and providing precise documentation and reporting. Key Responsibilities Oversee payroll operations to ensure timely and accurate processing. Compile and present operational payroll metrics and dashboards. Prepare and submit periodic payroll reconciliation reports for management review. Manage and optimise payroll workflow to maximize productivity. Conduct audits of timesheets to verify accurate wages and benefits distribution. Accurately record and document all payroll transactions, maintaining detailed records for reporting and audit purposes. Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies through research and analysis. Collaborate with HR teams to implement necessary changes to payroll accounts. Direct Manager / Reporting The Payroll Specialist reports directly to the Payroll Tax Supervisor and does not oversee any direct reports. The role functions within a collaborative team setting, ensuring seamless payroll operations and compliance with organizational standards. Travel and Physical Requirements Travel is not required. Physical demands include primarily office‑based tasks: prolonged stationary periods while operating a computer, occasional lifting up to 10pounds, and standard office movements. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of three years of relevant payroll processing experience. Proven experience with Workday. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Technical Proficiencies In‑depth understanding of tax codes and payroll regulations. Strong bookkeeping and data manipulation skills. Skills & Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication. Strong problem‑solving and analytical thinking. Collaborative teamwork and interpersonal skills. Precision and meticulous attention to detail. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Compliance & Ethics Unwavering commitment to legal compliance and client privacy. Respect for confidentiality in all interactions. Preferred Qualifications (Optional) Advanced Workday proficiency or certification in Workday Payroll Management. Certification in Payroll Processing (CPP or FPC). Experience in high‑volume or multinational payroll environments. Knowledge of global payroll regulations and expatriate payroll management. Experience with HRIS integration and data analytics. Automation and process improvement experience. Advanced Excel skills. Leadership or mentorship experience.
