Veterinary Technician Medical Staff and Flow Manager - Mobile Veterinary Services (90270)

Summary:Have you ever wondered what happens to cats and dogs whose owners are unable to afford veterinary care? We did. The ASPCA's Community Medicine (CM) team provides expert veterinary care to support the welfare of animals and their people through our stationary and mobile veterinary clinics, serving underserved communities in New York, Miami, and Los Angeles. We help pet owners overcome barriers to care, bringing quality services directly to the communities that need us most and partially or fully subsidizing the cost of basic and preventive care. CM treats people and pets with dignity and respect, assisting pet owners in making informed decisions about their pets' health and wellbeing regardless of their financial circumstances. When you come to work at the ASPCA, you join a team of over 1,000 dedicated colleagues with deep knowledge, skills, and passion for the animals we serve.What you'll do:As the Registered Veterinary Technician Staff and Flow Manager, you'll be a vital member of our veterinary medical team. The ASPCA's Mobile Veterinary Services (MVS) program offers high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter (HQHVSN), preventive care and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries. Throughout the day, you'll be responsible for directing workflow, assisting the veterinarian in administering medical treatments and communicating with clients. You'll work closely with the management team to coordinate the flow of work throughout the day to deliver high quality care and optimize our impact for animals in the communities we serve.Where and When You'll WorkThis is a full-time position, approximately 10 hours a day, 4 days a week between Monday through Friday. The position requires flexibility to work occasionally beyond the scheduled work day.This position is primarily based at the ASPCA Mobile Clinics throughout the Greater LA area, however, the person in this position may be required to report to our South LA Spay/Neuter Clinic. Assignment to a particular mobile clinic is subject to change based on operational needsWhat you'll get:Compensation:Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of factors, including but not limited to education, training, experience, location, business needs, internal equity, market demands or budgeted amount for the role. The target hiring range is for new hire offers only, and staff compensation may increase beyond the maximum hiring range based on performance over time. The maximum of the hiring range is reserved for candidates with the highest qualifications and relevant experience. The expected hiring salary range for this role is set forth below and may be modified in the future.The target hiring range for this role is $44.24 - $46.64 / hour.This position is eligible for a signing bonus of $1,000 and a retention bonus of $1,000 after one year of service.Benefits:At the ASPCA, you don't have to choose between your passion and making a living. Monitor drug logs for accuracy and completeness; correct and report issues to clinic directorEnsure staff take all mandatory rest and meal breaks and adhere to time and attendance guidelinesTraining:Train and onboard new nursing team members, including hands-on skills training and weekly online training modulesMonitor and assess trainees' progress, provide regular developmental feedback and coachingAssist with training rotating Interns and Residents and veterinary and technical students through coaching, discussion and demonstrationPeople Management & OperationsServe on the Mobile Leadership TeamSupport a culture of kindness, respect, belonging and teamwork through regular 1:1s, recognition, developmental coaching, performance evaluation and feedbackWork with the Mobile Leadership Team to achieve daily clinic goalsLead a culture of safety and security in the clinic – report safety incidents promptly and address root causes to prevent future injuries or accidentsAssist with hiring new staffSchedule nursing staff for optimal coverageManage team time and attendance - review time sheets for accuracyreview and approve time off requests according to clinic guidelinesFacilitate daily huddles to ensure staff have information they need each dayMeet regularly with the Mobile management team; provide open communication, feedback and solutions when things aren't working as they shouldAttend required workshops or meetingsServe as backup driver based on operational needs to safely drive and park mobile clinics to and from various locations in Los Angeles County Qualifications:Must have current California State Registered Veterinary Technician LicenseAbility to work well within a team and communicate effectively with all levels of staffDesire to serve clients in a kind, helpful and nonjudgmental mannerAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging environmentStrong interest in animal welfare and serving underserved communitiesMust possess excellent animal handling skillsMust be able to lift and carry 40-plus pounds repeatedly throughout the day with assistanceMust possess the ability to work standing for 10 or more hoursAbility to work efficiently and calmly under challenging conditionsFear FreeShelter certification is required within 60 days of hireMust be willing and comfortable learning to drive our 37' Mobile Clinics (training provided by ASPCA) within 6 months of hireMust provide a valid driver's license upon hire Must pass a motor vehicle history check demonstrating a safe driving history Must pass a Department of Transportation Medical Exam Ability to exemplify ASPCA's core values and behavioral competenciesEducation and Work Experience:Must have graduated from an accredited school of veterinary science technology (2 or 4 year program) or the equivalent as determined by the California State Education DepartmentMinimum five years experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician in small animal medicine and surgery; experience in shelter medicine and/or high volume spay/neuter surgery strongly preferredMinimum two years people management experienceLanguage:English (Required)Bilingual (Spanish) PreferredStay Connected – Join Our Talent Community:If you are interested in joining our team but do not see a position listed that fits your experience or interests, please to stay connected to future opportunities with the ASPCA.
