Responsibilities
- Assess patients from pediatric to geriatric groups using both standardized tests and clinical observations.
- Design tailored treatment strategies that cater to immediate and long-range communication, cognitive, and swallowing objectives.
- Deliver focused individual speech therapy targeting language, fluency, voice, and swallowing skills.
- Team up with physical and occupational therapists, nursing staff, physicians, caregivers, and families to develop coordinated care plans.
- Educate patients and their families to foster improvement beyond the clinic environment.
- Assist with inpatient evaluations and facilitate therapy sessions to maintain a seamless continuum of care.
- Keep precise and timely documentation in accordance with industry standards.
- Engage in ongoing education and peer discussions to remain at the forefront of the field.
Education and Experience
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) is required for those not yet ASHA-certified.
Licenses and Certifications
- Current state licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of joining.
