FIN - Director, Financial Planning and Analysis Full-time position in the Finance department, responsible for building and leading the FP&A function at ACRS. Reports to the Deputy Director of Administration. Competitive Benefits Package Includes Pay range is between $163,800 to $184,400 annually. Can increase based on experience. Essential Job Functions Owns the annual budget development process end‑to‑end, partnering with program directors and senior leadership to build realistic, grant‑aligned budgets across 40+ cost centers and funding sources. Develops rolling forecasts and scenario models that give leadership timely visibility into revenue trends, expense variances, and cash flow projections. Builds multi‑year financial plans that account for grant cycles, Medicaid rate changes, and organizational growth targets. Creates timely budget‑to‑actual reporting that program managers can use—replacing the current manual compilation process with automated, self‑service dashboards. Designs and delivers monthly financial reporting packages for the Executive Team and Board, including narrative analysis that connects financial data to programmatic outcomes. Builds grant‑level financial tracking and reporting that meets funder requirements and gives program leaders real‑time visibility into burn rates and remaining balances. Develops KPIs and financial metrics relevant to behavioral health and social services (cost per client served, revenue per billable hour, indirect cost rates, etc.). Provides ad‑hoc financial analysis to support strategic decisions: new program viability, facility expansion, staffing model changes, and payer mix shifts. Drives adoption of new financial tools and processes across a workforce accustomed to manual systems—with patience, clear communication, and practical training. Serves as a strategic finance partner to program directors, helping them understand their budgets, interpret variances, and make data‑informed decisions. Collaborates with the Director of Accounting to ensure clean handoffs between transactional accounting and analytical reporting. Supports the Deputy Director of Administration in building a cohesive, modernized administrative function across HR, IT, Operations, Finance, and Compliance. Evaluates the technology landscape for FP&A‑specific tools (budgeting software, forecasting platforms, reporting layers) and makes recommendations based on cost, complexity, and organizational readiness. Develops scalable reporting infrastructure that is well‑documented, accessible, and easily maintained across the team. Creates clear documentation for all FP&A processes. Partners with the Director of Finance to align chart of accounts structure, cost center design, and data architecture to support FP&A reporting needs. Designs and delivers monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for the Executive Team and Board, including narrative analysis that provides context and insight alongside key financial data. Ensures board members and leadership have financial analysis in formats they can use for governance and strategic decisions. Translates financial complexity into plain language that non‑finance program staff can understand and act on. Coordinates with development and program staff to track grant spending in a timely manner against approved budgets and proactively flag variances to ensure compliance. Supports grant budget development by providing financial modeling and historical analysis to inform realistic grant proposals. Ensure program directors have real‑time visibility into grant balances and burn rates through accessible, self‑service reporting tools. Attends relevant agency, program, and leadership meetings. Participates in cross‑functional administrative initiatives as a representative of the finance function. This role is initially structured as an individual contributor; however, as the FP&A function matures, it is expected to grow to include direct reports. The Director will be expected to contribute to hiring decisions, onboarding, and development of future FP&A staff as the team is built out. Position Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or related field required. MBA, CPA, or CGMA designation preferred. Seven (7) or more years of progressive finance experience, with at least three (3) years focused in a leadership position overseeing critical financial functions. Demonstrated experience modernizing financial operations in a mid‑size organization—moving from manual or fragmented processes to integrated, automated systems. Knowledge and Skills: Deep fluency in nonprofit financial management: fund accounting, restricted/unrestricted funds, indirect cost allocation, grant budgeting and compliance, and government contract reporting. Hands‑on experience implementing or significantly optimizing financial software (e.g., Sage Intacct, Abila MIP, Blackbaud, Bill.com, Concur, or comparable platforms). Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills; experience with BI/reporting tools (Power BI, Tableau, or similar). Proven ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non‑financial audiences. Strong change‑management instincts—able to bring people along through process changes with empathy, clarity, and follow‑through. Preferred: Experience in behavioral health, healthcare, or human services; familiarity with MIP Fund Accounting; experience building an FP&A function from scratch; experience with A&NH/PI communities or other historically underserved populations; experience inheriting in‑progress system implementations. Cultural Humility: Ability to provide effective and respectful service to employees, visitors and clients of diverse cultural beliefs and practices. Technical Skills: Advanced Excel and financial modeling (required). Experience with BI/reporting tools: Power BI, Tableau, or similar (required). Hands‑on experience with nonprofit ERP or fund accounting platforms (required). Experience with AP automation or electronic payment platforms (Bill.com, Concur, AvidXchange, or similar) strongly preferred. Working Conditions The position requires regular mobility within the office or workspace, may involve sitting for extended periods throughout the day and the ability to handle objects, tools, or controls. This position is hybrid, with work divided between 20% remote and 80% on‑site locations. Established hybrid work expectations are subject to change at the agency’s discretion.
