Business Capability-Requirements Manager

Role Overview

The Business Capability Manager is responsible for converting business requirements into a clearly defined, prioritized, and value-driven roadmap for platform capabilities. This role collaborates closely with business stakeholders, technical leadership, development teams, and end users to identify challenges, define solutions, prioritize work, and ensure successful delivery of features that generate measurable business outcomes.

Core Objective

Act as the primary connection between business operations and technology delivery, ensuring the platform continues to evolve in alignment with strategic objectives, user needs, operational efficiency, and overall business value

.Key Responsibilities

Product Ownership & Roadmap Management

• Lead or share ownership of the roadmap for assigned business capabilities
• Manage and prioritize the backlog based on business impact, stakeholder input, feasibility, and organizational priorities
• Work with leadership to define near-term deliverables and long-term capability strategies
• Identify opportunities to deliver incremental value through phased releases, pilot programs, or targeted deployments

Business Analysis & Requirements Definition

Facilitate discovery sessions with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and users

• Document current workflows and develop future-state process designs
• Translate business needs into clear deliverables, including user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, and performance measures
• Ensure requirements are well-defined prior to development
• Maintain accurate and organized documentation within designated systems

Stakeholder Engage

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Operations, Finance, IT, and other business units
• Streamline intake and requirements processes to reduce delays
• Lead prioritization discussions and manage trade-offs among competing initiatives
• Provide clear communication on roadmap progress, risks, dependencies, and key decision points

Delivery Execution & Adoption

• Support development teams by clarifying requirements and resolving questions throughout the delivery
• Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), validation, release readiness, and training inputs
• Verify that delivered solutions meet business requirements and expected outcomes
• Monitor adoption and evaluate value realization following implementation when applicable

Continuous Improvement

• Identify recurring challenges, inefficiencies, and gaps in user experience
• Recommend enhancements to improve system performance, usability, visibility, and adoption
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in product management practices and delivery processes

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in product management, product ownership, business analysis, business systems, or process improvement
• Experience working with software platforms such as custom applications, ERP, MES, CRM, or other operational systems
• Strong ability to translate business processes into structured technical requirements
• Proven ability to facilitate discussions and manage stakeholders across multiple functions
• Experience prioritizing work based on value, risk, urgency, effort, and dependencies
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with executives, business users, and technical teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, construction, engineering, project-based, or make-to-order environments
• Background supporting system modernization or legacy system transformation efforts
• Familiarity with tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, or similar backlog management platforms
• Understanding of Agile or hybrid delivery models
• Experience supporting UAT, training, release management, and user adoption criteria

This position typically reports into a technology, product, or business systems function, allowing for an objective balance between representing business priorities and working closely with development and delivery teams.
